Are you an experienced travel industry professional with strong knowledge of travel regulation, financial protection and industry affairs ? We’re looking for an accomplished and commercially minded
Industry Affairs & Financial Protection Manager to play a key role within a leading travel trade association.
This is a varied and influential position combining regulatory affairs, member advisory, financial protection, stakeholder management and commercial development .
You'll work closely with senior leadership, Government bodies, regulators and industry organisations, while providing expert support to members across the UK travel sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the organisation's policy, regulatory and industry affairs activity, keeping members informed of key legislative and regulatory developments.
- Develop policy positions, consultation responses, briefings and practical guidance for members.
- Represent the organisation with Government departments, regulators, trade associations and other key industry bodies.
- Provide expert advice to members on regulatory, financial protection and operational matters.
- Manage complex member enquiries, compliance issues and complaints.
- Oversee the organisation's financial protection scheme, including new member assessments, financial reviews, recommendations and ongoing risk monitoring.
- Liaise with members, insurers, bond providers and other stakeholders throughout the financial protection process.
- Prepare reports and recommendations for senior leadership and relevant boards.
- Maintain strong governance, documentation and processes across the financial protection operation.
- Identify opportunities to develop new products, services and revenue streams.
- Manage commercial relationships with key financial protection and industry partners.
- Identify opportunities to use technology and AI to improve efficiency, processes and member services.
- Act as an ambassador for the organisation, building strong relationships across Government, regulators and the wider travel industry.
- Support communications and media activity where appropriate.
What We're Looking For
You'll ideally have
- Significant experience within the
UK travel industry , with a strong understanding of the sector.
- Detailed knowledge of travel regulation, consumer protection and financial protection requirements.
- Experience working with insurance, bonding or financial protection schemes.
- Experience engaging with Government departments, regulators and industry bodies.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to interpret statutory accounts and assess financial risk.
- Excellent commercial judgement, negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the confidence to influence at senior level.
- The ability to manage sensitive issues, competing priorities and complex stakeholder relationships.
- A proactive and independent approach, with the confidence to take ownership and make informed decisions.
- An interest in using
AI and technology to improve business processes and efficiency .
- Degree-level education or equivalent professional experience.
