We’re looking for an experienced Safety, Risk & Assurance Manager to lead and evolve a global Safety Management System (SMS) across a multi-destination adventure travel operation. This is a high-impact role where you’ll shape safety standards, strengthen governance and ensure safe delivery across trips, events and new product development worldwide.

The Role

  • You’ll design, implement and continuously improve a practical, scalable Safety Management System, working closely with operational teams, suppliers and senior leadership.
  • From risk management and audits to incident response and training, you’ll play a key role in embedding a strong, proactive safety culture across the business.
  • Develop and manage a global Safety Management System (SMS) aligned to industry standards.
  • Oversee risk assessments, SOPs and emergency planning across all destinations.
  • Lead supplier assurance (marine, accommodation, transport) and safety standards.
  • Conduct audits, analyse incidents and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support and lead incident investigations and crisis response.
  • Deliver training and ensure safety competence across teams and guides.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant regulations and industry best practice.
  • Provide expert guidance on safety for new products, events and operations.

Experience and skills:

  • Experience working in a similar role - preferably in marine industry, adventure travel or outdoor activities.
  • Proven experience in safety, risk or assurance roles (multi-site or global operations).
  • Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems and risk frameworks (ISO aligned desirable).
  • Experience in auditing, incident investigation and supplier management.
  • Ability to analyse data, identify trends and implement improvements.
  • Confident communicator able to influence teams and stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, international environment.
