Our client is an exceptionally successful tour operator, creating wonderful cultural adventure trips for their customers to Japan. They are looking for people who have spent time in Japan travelling, to join their team.
As a Travel Consultant, your primary goal is to turn incoming enquiries into bookings by creating exceptional travel experiences and delivering outstanding customer service. You will work closely with clients to design custom travel proposals, manage their bookings, and ensure their satisfaction from initial contact through their return.
Travel Consultant - Duties:- You’ll be speaking with clients via phone, video call, email, and in-person to understand their travel needs.
- Create high-quality, personalised itineraries for direct and trade clients.
- Meet individual and team sales targets by converting inquiries into bookings.
- Ensure travel documents are accurate and professionally presented.
- Participate in familiarisation trips to improve destination knowledge.
- It is essential that you have spent a significant period of time either working, living or travelling throughout Japan – you will be passionate about this country and everything it can offer someone wanting to explore it.
- Ideally some sales experience; travel industry sales experience would be a major advantage.
- Customer service and/or sales experience is essential.
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication skills across various platforms.
- Creative problem‑solving skills.
- Proactive approach to personal development.
This is an office-based role with the first month and possibly up to the end of your probation whilst you are training in the office full time – once you are fully up and running there is the opportunity to move to a hybrid model with some days at home or even home‑based for an exceptional candidate. The hours are Monday to Friday 9 – 5.30pm with occasional Saturdays. Base salary from £26k - £28k per year, with uncapped commission with On Target Earnings (OTE) of £5,000 in year one rising to £16,000 per annum from year three. 25 days annual leave, increasing annually, plus statutory holidays and birthday leave. Enhanced parental leave, employee assistance programme, and other benefits like pension contributions and discounted travel. You will also experience trips to the places you will be selling.
