Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Position Hours: Afternoon/Evening shift, Monday to Friday, start time between 2.00 pm and 4.00 pm, finishing at midnight.

We are an established precision engineering company, operating for over 30 years, based in Maldon, Essex, and we are seeking a CNC Setter/Operator to join our team. You will be working on Citizen and Miyano lathes, predominantly using Mitsubishi controls, producing precision-engineered components directly from technical drawings. We take great pride in providing a clean, safe, warm, and modern working environment, where quality workmanship and attention to detail are valued. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing company with ongoing investment in people and technology, offering training in CNC Sliding Head and Fixed Head technology. Please note: We are also open to experienced operators within engineering who feel they can progress further with the right training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set and operate CNC machines (training provided)
  • Produce precision components directly from technical drawings
  • Work to tight tolerances across a range of materials
  • Program CNC machines when required (training provided)
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in machining methods and workshop practices

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in CNC turning
  • Skilled in setting and operating multi-axis CNC turning centres
  • Ability to read and accurately interpret technical drawings
  • Knowledge of tool data, thread geometry, and tool charts
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
