Clymac's Design Engineers
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Design/Estimating Engineer to join our fast-paced design and estimating team. In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Producing accurate and compliant fire alarm system designs and cost estimates, supporting both pre-sales activities and project delivery.
- Leading the design and development of fire alarm system proposals, ensuring compliance with all relevant standards and regulations, including BS 5839, CDM regulations, and other applicable codes.
- Managing relationships and communicating effectively with Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) contractors, ensuring projects are delivered to the required standards and timelines.
- Managing multiple design projects simultaneously, effectively prioritising workloads based on project deadlines and business needs.
- Acting as a customer-facing technical expert, working alongside Business Development Managers to present and deliver tailored design proposals.
- Collaborating closely with Project Managers and installation teams to assess and negotiate installation costs for supply, installation, and commissioning projects.
- Delivering exceptional customer service by managing design enquiries efficiently—gathering and assessing necessary information, and responding promptly to client needs.
- Providing ongoing technical support, guidance, and mentorship to team members, while coordinating with other internal departments to ensure cohesive project delivery.
- Overseeing the administration of current enquiries, including the preparation of project handover documentation and maintenance of the SRM system.
For this specific opportunity, we are looking for candidates who also offer:
- Proven experience as a Fire Alarm Design Engineer, ideally supported by an FIA Design Qualification or equivalent industry certification.
- Previous experience in a similar role, with a track record of liaising effectively with end users, contractors, and other stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, with the ability to produce accurate, standards-compliant system designs.
- A full, clean UK driving licence, enabling site visits and client meetings as required.
