Clyde Vet Group Equine Hospital is currently seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated, passionate, driven RVN with good communication skills to join our existing team of nurses and equine veterinary care assistants. A team player is essential to join a team built on mutual respect, support and continuous development.

Key Responsibilities

  • General Duties – Daily care including mucking out, grooming, feeding and water maintenance; maintaining hygiene, cleaning stables and managing clinical areas, ensuring a safe work environment; nursing inpatient and outpatients, preparing for surgery, assisting with veterinary investigations and diagnostic imaging, wound care and educating owners.
  • Inpatient Care – Nursing sick or injured patients, administering medication and monitoring pain levels.
  • Clinical and Diagnostic Procedures – Taking blood samples, placing catheters, wound management and bandage changes; diagnostic imaging including ultrasonography, radiography and scintigraphy; laboratory work including haematology, biochemistry, blood smears, faecal analysis, urinalysis, skin scrapes and hair plucks.
  • Surgical and Anaesthesia Support – Preparing theatre, sterilising instruments and assisting with procedures.
  • Client Communication – Educating owners on horse health, preventative care and post‑operative rehabilitation.
  • Handling – Confident equine handling skills for a wide variety of horses including youngstock, stallions and competition fit horses.
  • Health and Safety – Monitoring and recognising signs of ill health; completing health and safety checks of the work area; must be able to be accountable for own health and safety as lone working involved in role.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Must be a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN) with a recognised veterinary nursing degree or diploma. Student RVNs may be considered if they are nearing completion of their studies.
  • Current or previous Equine RVN experience preferred.
  • Competent in emergency care.
  • Confident handling a wide range of equine patients.
  • Ability to work out of hours necessary.
  • Reliable, self‑motivated and a strong team player with attention to detail.
  • Ability to relocate or be within 30 minutes of Lanark.
  • Driving licence.
