The Travel Consultant role is an entry‐level, customer‐facing position designed for individuals starting their career in business travel through Clyde Travel Management's Graduate Programme. This role provides a structured introduction to business travel consulting, combining full training with hands‐on experience supporting customers with day‐to‐day travel requirements. Travel Consultants work closely with experienced colleagues, using a range of communication methods and booking technologies to ensure customers and travellers are supported throughout every stage of their journey.

The successful candidate will develop the knowledge, confidence, and technical skills required to manage complex travel arrangements in a fast‐paced, service‐focused environment. This role is ideal for graduates or early‐career candidates who are motivated to learn, enjoy working with people, and are looking to build a long‐term career in business travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate fully comprehensive travel provision from door‐to‐door, including flights, accommodation, car hire, visa and travel restrictions support, and other land arrangements.
  • Adapt to a variety of clients and their travel policies, preferences, and expectations.
  • Proactively suggest creative options, routes, or alternative travel solutions to save customers money or improve the traveller experience.
  • Maintain daily oversight of disruptions and upcoming or completed bookings through an internal messaging centre.
  • Manage and make bookings through preferred channels, including NDC.
  • Commit to continuous learning and development to stay aligned with the constantly evolving business travel environment.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with travel bookers through day‐to‐day interaction by phone and email, as well as attendance at client meetings where required.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting different aspects of the role in line with business needs.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills with a professional and solutions‐focused approach.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately.
  • Confidence using systems and technology, with the ability to learn new platforms quickly.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and development.
  • Exposure to business travel, travel, tourism, hospitality, or customer‐focused environments.
  • Experience using GDS or booking systems (training will be provided).
  • Marine or offshore travel exposure is beneficial but not essential.

Development & Training

This role includes a structured training programme designed to support individuals entering business travel management for the first time. Full training is provided before moving into live bookings, followed by continuous development and coaching as skills and confidence grow.
