We are looking for a Product Manager with experience of Earth Observation and its applications to help grow our Data and Services business, creating insights from satellites developed and operated in-house. With a strong user focus, you will identify and prioritise product requirements and work with technical teams to implement novel solutions built on the company’s satellite data capacity. You will support the sales team to bring new products and improvements to existing products to market. You will also contribute to future satellite development plans, identifying gaps in capability that can be filled with new in-orbit assets.
This opportunity is ideal for someone with a passion for product quality and innovation, who has experience of working with Earth Observation and geospatial data. You should be comfortable working in an Agile development environment and confident to engage directly with customers and potential users. The position offers the opportunity to share your expertise in a fast-growing space technology company that is bringing new data and insights to address challenges in business and government.
The role is based in London where Hybrid Working is available. The nature of the role will require essential, regular business travel (both local and global) plus the occasional ‘out of hours’ work that may be required to support customer and business activities.
Responsibilities- Work with users, senior managers and other stakeholders to establish Earth Observation (EO) product needs and define the EO product roadmap for the business.
- Define EO product requirements and work with engineers to oversee the development lifecycle.
- Lead contributions to Agile sprint planning and prioritisation, task definition and retrospective reviews.
- Collaborate with customers, prospective users, engineers and other stakeholders to agree and validate data interfaces.
- Work with the satellite operations team to ensure that data delivery processes fully achieve specified technical goals and optimise performance.
- Coordinate market research and competitor analysis to guide effective product positioning and launch.
- Maintain product definition documentation and provide authoritative input to product marketing materials.
- Support business development activities with product and market insight to guide effective positioning.
- Contribute to sales tools, including data pricing models, and on occasion contribute to proposals.
- Strong skills in Product Management processes and Agile development methodologies.
- Excellent knowledge of Earth Observation data and geospatial applications in agriculture, forestry, infrastructure and other environmental management.
- Understanding of satellite EO system characteristics, including orbits and data collection principles.
- Ability to undertake and structure market analysis, competitive positioning and guide product go-to-market strategies.
- Confident working in a customer-facing context with demonstrable commercial experience.
- Strong analytical skills with ability to be a clear, confident communicator.
- Calm and effective under pressure; resilient in dynamic environments; able to prioritise workload.
- Proactive and driven to solve problems. Self-organised and detail-oriented, to ensure accurate work and record keeping.
- Adaptable and quick to learn new software and tools.
- Competent IT skills including Microsoft software.
- Excellent English, both verbally and written.
- GIS software skills.
- Understanding of data product licensing.
- Experience of APIs and web services.
- Familiarity with JIRA.
- Working knowledge of space mission analysis and design.
