We’re looking for a lawyer with experience in defending motor crime investigations and prosecutions to join our specialist Regulatory Crime Department in Manchester.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing, market-leading team within a top 20 international law firm, recognised in the Legal 500 for its expertise in Motor Crime.

The Opportunity

You’ll work on a high-quality, often high-profile caseload, representing clients across England & Wales—from early police investigations through to trial. Typical matters include:

  • Death by dangerous or careless driving
  • Serious injury by careless driving
  • Careless driving offences
  • Drink driving, speeding, no insurance

You’ll gain exposure to:

  • Police station representation
  • Criminal court proceedings
  • Coroners’ Court work
  • Complex cases supported by leading experts and King’s Counsel

This is a unique chance to practice criminal defence within a corporate, insurer-backed environment (no legal aid work).

The Team

One of the UK’s largest Regulatory Crime teams with 16+ specialist fee earners and a national client base across insurers, corporates, and private individuals. We have a collaborative, supportive, and flexible working culture.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re open to a wide range of candidates, including NQ Solicitors, Legal Executives, and experienced lawyers (all PQE levels) with defence or prosecution backgrounds. You’ll ideally have:

  • Knowledge of the Criminal Justice System (England & Wales)
  • Experience with or exposure to motoring offences
  • Strong communication and client-handling skills
  • A proactive, resilient approach in a fast-paced environment
  • Willingness to travel nationally (full UK driving licence essential)
  • Advocacy experience is beneficial but not required.
