We are looking for a solicitor (2-5 years PQE) to join our specialist Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Regulatory Department into the Manchester office. This is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding team within our multi-award-winning firm. The role is based in our Manchester office and requires regular communication with clients nationally. We have a collaborative, supportive team working in a modern, flexible environment.

We will consider individuals who are experienced in representing clients subject to investigations and prosecutions relating to Health & Safety, Food safety, Fire safety, Motor Prosecutions and Environmental crime and who wish to progress their career in Regulatory work. Please note that our PQE levels are a guide and all suitable candidates will be considered.

The Team

This is a great opportunity to work for a top 20 International law firm with one of the UK's largest SHE departments, recognised in Chambers & Partners and the Legal 500 for both disciplines of Health and Safety and Environmental work. As part of our close-knit team you would have the opportunity to become a specialist in this fascinating area of law, working on a uniquely varied and sometimes high-profile caseload. This is your opportunity to practice Regulatory law in a truly corporate environment. Our lawyers provide national coverage for a blend of corporate and insurer backed clients. You will be joining a team of 16 fee earners preparing and progressing cases from their early investigative stages, through the enforcement process, and ultimately, to conclusion before the Criminal Courts. Typical cases include corporate manslaughter, health and safety prosecutions and environmental crime and due to the high number of fatalities we deal with you will also become proficient in representation before the Coroners Court.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • You should ideally have 2-5 years PQE with previous experience of either Health & Safety; Environmental Crime; Motor Crime; or Fire Safety.
  • You will be bright and ambitious.
  • You will be a highly determined individual able to adapt well within a demanding, fast-paced team.
  • You will be willing and available to travel to anywhere in England and Wales to support clients and have a full driving licence.
  • You will enjoy being challenged by complex legal issues and expanding your knowledge.
  • You will be a confident and effective communicator.
  • You will be focussed on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client Service Level Agreements and Management Information requirements.
