The role is for a learning and development specialist to join the Knowledge & Legal Development team, providing development opportunities for our lawyers. The role requires the ability to engage with a range of stakeholders and drive learning initiatives (black letter law and legal skills) within our Legal Delivery Academy. Central to the role are the activities of learning needs analysis (in consultation with our Knowledge Lawyers), the design and delivery of a wide range of learning interventions and the maintenance of established programmes. The ability to collaborate is key to this role, working across Practice Groups and Business Services areas to improve efficiency and build a culture of learning and high performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Play an instrumental role in the maintenance and growth of the Legal Delivery Academy, the home of legal learning at Clyde & Co.
- Design and deliver engaging training modules, workshops, and e-learning content for various legal topics and skills.
- Collaborate with Knowledge Lawyers to identify training needs and develop curriculums that align with the firm's strategic goals.
- Promote and curate content in the Learning Management System (LMS) working in conjunction with the Digital Learning & Platforms team.
- Maintain Legal Delivery Academy pages on SharePoint and the firm's LMS.
- Manage the end-to-end process of training events, including scheduling, logistics, material preparation, and follow-up assessments.
- Keep updated regarding developments in legal technology and adult learning principles to continuously enhance the firm's training offering.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and implement improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Support Knowledge Lawyers in creating a culture of continuous learning and professional development within the firm.
- Identify and collaborate with business sponsors, subject matter experts, and external partners to drive relevant and effective learning solutions throughout the business.
- Deliver learning consultancy at all stages of the learning lifecycle to a wide range of stakeholders across Practice Groups.
- Manage and source external providers, ensuring partnerships with external vendors are optimised globally and measured for impact and commercial value.
- Establish and maintain relationships with colleagues in L&D.
- Recommend and implement iterative improvements to existing courses and programmes.
- Be a champion and role model for the Legal Delivery Academy.
- Support other ad hoc activities, as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous law firm experience (having practiced law).
- Proven experience in all elements of the learning lifecycle including learning needs analysis, learning design, and deployment in a law firm.
- Experience of writing narrative for both facilitated and digital learning sessions.
- Ability to collaborate with subject matter experts to create material that is memorable and engaging.
- Ability to seek out and engage business sponsors, subject matter experts and pilot learners to validate and support learning initiatives.
- Experienced in working with stakeholders to identify key performance indicators that validate training effectiveness.
- Confident in speaking up and sharing views and insights in group settings, proactively collaborating online and in meetings and encouraging junior members of the team to build confidence area.
- A good working knowledge of MS packages and IT proficiency essential.
- Digital learning design knowledge and experience.
- Effective stakeholder management.
- Communicates effectively and with confidence at all levels, both verbally and in writing.
- Proactive approach and positive attitude, enthusiastic and outgoing.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail with written content, including copy and proofing.
- Flexible and adaptable (solutions focused when faced with changing priorities).
