The Team
Clyde & Co’s Corporate Insurance team sits at the centre of the firm’s global insurance practice, one of the largest and most respected in the world. The team advises leading insurers, reinsurers, intermediaries, MGAs, and financial institutions on complex, high‑value corporate and regulatory matters. With deep sector knowledge and a strong international platform, the team handles the full spectrum of insurance‑related transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, reorganisations, portfolio transfers, and Part VII processes.
The Role
The firm is seeking an experienced Senior Associate or Legal Director to take a senior position within the London Corporate Insurance group. The role involves leading sophisticated transactions, managing key client relationships, and contributing to the strategic growth of the practice. You will work closely with partners across corporate, regulatory, commercial, and disputes teams, often on cross‑border mandates. This is a career‑defining opportunity for a lawyer looking to operate at the highest level of the insurance market.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage complex insurance M&A, joint ventures, and corporate restructurings.
- Advise on portfolio transfers, including Part VII court‑sanctioned processes.
- Provide strategic guidance on UK and EU insurance regulatory matters, including PRA/FCA requirements, governance, and conduct issues.
- Act as a senior client contact, developing and maintaining long‑term relationships with major insurers, reinsurers, and intermediaries.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop junior lawyers within the team.
- Support business development initiatives, thought leadership, and client‑facing projects across the firm’s insurance platform.
- Collaborate with colleagues globally on multi‑disciplinary and cross‑border matters.
Experience
- Qualified solicitor (England & Wales) with 7+ PQE in corporate or corporate insurance work.
- Strong experience advising insurers, reinsurers, brokers, MGAs, or other regulated financial services clients.
- Proven track record leading complex transactions and managing senior‑level client relationships.
- Excellent technical skills, commercial judgement, and the ability to deliver clear, pragmatic advice.
- Experience supervising junior lawyers and contributing to team leadership.
- Ambition to progress within a global, high‑performing practice.
