We are looking for Cost Lawyers/Solicitors at all levels to join our large London team working on a broad range of matters including paying and receiving party costs and budgeting. The costs work arises from a full range of personal injury work but also encompasses other areas of litigation undertaken by the firm.

The Team Clyde & Co's Costs Team advises clients on a wide and diverse caseload. The bulk of the costs work in our London team arises in the context of the defence of claims and litigation on behalf of insurers and their policyholders in relation to personal injury claims (of all types) but the team also services specialist work arising from commercial, property, marine, aviation and professional indemnity claims and litigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessing and negotiating settlement of fast track, intermediate track and multi-track costs, including handling of related costs proceedings.
  • Drafting own party and opposing third party cost budgets.
  • Pursuing costs recoveries including bill drafting.

Skills and Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience in a costs environment, this role could be suitable for both Solicitors and Costs Lawyers.
  • Experience running own costs cases on behalf of the paying party.
  • Experience of costs budgeting.
  • Some advocacy experience would be welcomed but is not essential.
  • Bill drafting skills would be welcomed but are not essential.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work to tight deadlines and to prioritise accordingly.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively.
  • Ability to work as a member of a Team.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Confident and positive approach when communicating with staff of all levels and opponents.
  • Willingness to be flexible as and when volume of business dictates.
