Job Description | ER Business Partner (Operations)
Department : Human Resources
Location : Flexible – UK (UK travel will be required)
The Team
The HR team in the UK consists of over 100 people. We have specialist teams in Recruitment, Graduate Recruitment and Development, Learning and Development, Systems and MI, DE&I and Reward. The UK HR Operations team are based in offices across the UK, working as one team to deliver a Business Partnering and ER Advisory service to our fee earning and business services teams.
The Role
The ER Business Partner will lead a small team of ER Operations Advisors, working closely with the HR Business Partners and partnering with the ER Advisory team to manage operational ER issues, including disciplinary and grievance investigations, capability management process and other sensitive people issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Partnering with the central ER Advisory and regional HR teams to ensure consistent and compliant execution of change activities across all locations.
- Provide expert operational support on employee relations issues, working with the ER Advisory team to ensure robust mitigation strategies are in place.
- Support and coach line managers through sensitive complex people issues, helping them navigate change with confidence and empathy.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure people impacts are fully considered and addressed within project planning.
- Support a culture of respectful change, employee wellbeing, and continuous improvement throughout the transformation journey.
Essential Skills And Experience
- Proven experience of managing and coaching others to manage a broad range of ER issues, including disciplinaries, grievances and capability management processes, restructures and TUPE processes.
- Strong working knowledge of UK employment law.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and build trust at all levels of the organisation.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines simultaneously.
- Confident in handling sensitive situations with discretion, empathy, and professionalism.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment with evolving priorities.
- CIPD qualified or equivalent HR experience.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work with data and make data-driven decisions
- Well organised with a methodical approach
- Knowledge of HR best practices, including talent management, employee relations, and compensation and benefits
