Team

Our Bermuda Form team handles a broad and varied range of insurance and reinsurance disputes concerning resolution in the English Courts and international arbitration, focusing on the Bermuda Form. The team represents insurers and reinsurers on Bermuda Form arbitrations and related proceedings across multiple practice areas such as pharmaceuticals, pollution, product liability, professional indemnity, property & casualty, directors & officers, securities class actions and other large excess liability claims.

Responsibilities

  • As a Senior Associate in Clyde & Co's Bermuda insurance and reinsurance team, you will advise international and domestic clients on complex insurance, reinsurance, and regulatory matters, working closely with partners on high‑value coverage disputes, transactional work, corporate insurance work, and advisory mandates.
  • You will manage client relationships, mentor junior lawyers, and contribute to the growth of the practice.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong technical expertise in insurance and reinsurance law with experience advising on complex coverage, claims, and policy interpretation matters.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the Bermuda insurance and reinsurance market, including regulatory frameworks, market practices and cross‑border considerations.
  • Solid experience in litigation, arbitration, and dispute resolution in insurance/reinsurance disputes.
  • Ability to manage and advise on large‑scale, multi‑jurisdictional matters and work seamlessly with international teams and clients.
  • Proven track record in regulatory advisory work, including compliance with Bermuda Monetary Authority (BMA) requirements and broader international regulations.
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills across policy wording, coverage opinions, settlement agreements and commercial contracts.
  • Commercial acumen and the ability to provide practical, business‑oriented advice to insurers, reinsurers and brokers.
  • Leadership qualities with experience mentoring junior associates and contributing to team development.
  • Excellent client relationship management skills with the ability to develop and maintain high‑value client accounts.
