As an Associate in Clyde & Co's Bermuda insurance and reinsurance team, you will advise on complex insurance, reinsurance, and regulatory matters for international and domestic clients. You will work with partners on high-value coverage disputes, transactional work, and advisory mandates within the Bermuda market's regulatory framework. You will manage client relationships, mentor junior lawyers, and help grow the practice. This role offers exposure to cross-border disputes and multi-jurisdictional matters in a leading Bermuda Form practice.
Responsibilities
- Advise on complex insurance and reinsurance coverage disputes and regulatory matters
- Collaborate with partners on high-value disputes and advisory mandates
- Manage client relationships and contribute to business development
- Mentor and develop junior associates
- Handle multi-jurisdictional matters in cross-border teams
- Draft and negotiate policy wordings, coverage opinions, and settlements
- Provide regulatory advisory work, including Bermuda Monetary Authority considerations
Key Requirements
- Strong expertise in insurance and reinsurance law with complex coverage experience
- Knowledge of Bermuda insurance/reinsurance market and regulatory frameworks
- Experience in litigation, arbitration, and ADR in insurance disputes
- Ability to manage large, multi-jurisdictional matters with international teams
- Proven regulatory advisory experience, including BMA requirements
- Solid drafting and negotiation skills for policy wordings and contracts
- Commercial acumen and business-oriented advisory approach
- Leadership and mentoring experience; client relationship management
