The Product Liability team at Clyde & Co is a market-leading practice advising insurers and their insureds on a wide range of complex and high-value disputes. The team has a strong reputation for defending personal injury claims arising from product liability and aviation incidents, often involving catastrophic injury, large losses, and multi-party litigation. The team also handles property and coverage related matters, often stemming from product liability damage. With deep sector expertise and a genuinely international client reach, the team regularly handles cross-border matters and collaborates with colleagues across Clyde & Co's global network. The practice is known for its commercial, solutions-driven approach, combining technical excellence with a strong understanding of insurers' strategic and operational priorities.
An excellent opportunity to join a market leading team handling a broad range of insurance and non-insurance disputes. The role will have a strong focus on personal injury matters and involve advising insurers and their insureds on claims arising from product liability, property damage incidents, and aviation liability risks, many of which involve significant personal injury exposure. A strong personal injury background is therefore preferred, albeit the role may suit someone who is looking to expand their horizons from pure personal injury law.
The successful candidate will deal with claims arising from tortious, statutory and contractual routes. Coverage advice experience would be an asset, but guidance can be provided on this if the candidate does not have historic experience in this area. You will work on varied and interesting matters for both commercial and insurer clients. On the commercial side, all clients are global household names, and you will be exposed to legal and commercial issues and the interplay between them.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Experienced associate (2 PQE +) with a background in insurance litigation, particularly involving personal injury. Prior experience of product liability, property damage, or aviation claims would be helpful.
- Experience in coverage disputes and/or defending liability claims involving bodily injury is highly desirable.
- Some experience in commercial litigation or arbitration would be advantageous.
- Strong understanding of litigation processes, including multi-party and cross-border disputes.
- Qualified as a Solicitor in England and Wales.
