The Role
We are looking to recruit a Junior Associate to join our Abuse & Neglect team in Manchester. This is an excellent opportunity for a junior lawyer who has gained experience working within a busy, high-volume environment and is looking to develop their career within abuse and neglect claims. Working closely with Associates and Senior Associates within the team, you will assist with the management and progression of abuse claims caseloads. The role will provide exposure to a varied caseload and the opportunity to develop your technical knowledge and case management skills within a supportive and experienced team.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist Associates and Senior Associates with the day-to-day management and progression of abuse claims caseloads.
- Support with reviewing new and existing claims and progressing matters appropriately.
- Draft correspondence and other case‑related documentation.
- Review and manage documentation, records and evidence relating to claims.
- Liaise professionally with clients and other relevant parties throughout the lifecycle of a matter.
- Manage tasks and deadlines effectively across a volume caseload.
- Ensure files and case management systems are kept accurate and up to date.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure matters are progressed efficiently and consistently.
- Develop their technical knowledge and understanding of abuse and neglect claims.
- Support the wider team as required.
About You
- Is a qualified solicitor at Junior Associate level.
- Has previous experience of working with a claims portal, ideally gained within a volume litigation or claims-handling team.
- Has experience managing or assisting with a high volume of matters and competing deadlines.
- Has strong organisational and case management skills.
- Demonstrates excellent attention to detail.
- Has good written and verbal communication skills.
- Is comfortable working collaboratively and supporting more senior lawyers with their caseloads.
- Has a proactive approach and the ability to take ownership of tasks.
- Is keen to develop their technical expertise in abuse and neglect work.
The Opportunity
This role would suit a Junior Associate who has developed a solid grounding in volume claims work and is now looking to broaden their experience and build a career within a more specialist area. You will work alongside experienced Associates and Senior Associates, gaining hands‑on exposure to abuse claims and developing the technical and case management skills required to progress within the team.
