We are looking for an Associate with 2-5 years of post‑qualification experience to join our defence insurance team. The role is based in our Belfast office and requires regular communication with clients nationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act on behalf of a range of insurance companies and self‑insured commercial organisations.
  • Assist and handle a varied caseload and appear regularly in court.
  • Carry out investigations with policyholders, take witness statements and review medical records and reports.
  • Identify information requirements and secure required documentation/evidence from Plaintiff’s representatives.
  • Adhere to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to different client SLAs.
  • Manage files, including initial reports, updates and correspondence.
  • Attend and appear at court and pre‑trial meetings, adhering to court timetables.
  • Support the Partners in servicing existing clients, growing new business and maintaining relationships with clients.
  • Draft all legal documents and client advice; handle interlocutory proceedings, court reviews and client meetings.
  • Support marketing and business development activities with the team and the wider Clyde&Co casualty group.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Highly determined individual able to adapt within a demanding, fast‑paced team.
  • Experience of personal injury litigation.
  • Ability to enjoy complex legal issues and expand knowledge.
  • Focus on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.
