We are looking for an Associate (2–5 years PQE) to join our defence insurance team to be based in the Belfast office. The role covers a wide range of litigation including motor, disease, employers liability and public liability claims. The successful candidate should preferably have experience in personal injury. Previous experience dealing with defence insurance claims will be an advantage but is not essential. The role is an opportunity to take a lead in a growing area where the law is developing and the work is challenging.

- Focused on delivering a highly professional service to clients, including compliance with client SLAs and MI requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with all members of the team and be exposed to a variety of work, predominantly acting on behalf of insurance companies and self‑insured commercial organisations.
- Assist and handle a varied caseload and appear regularly in court.
- Carry out investigations with policyholders, take witness statements, review and interpret medical records and reports.
- Identify information requirements and secure required documentation/evidence from plaintiff’s representatives.
- Adhere to reporting and reserving requirements in relation to different client SLAs.
- Manage files, including initial reports, updating reports and correspondence.
- Attend and appear at court and pre‑trial meetings and adhere to court timetables.
- Support partners in servicing existing clients, growing new business and maintaining relationships with clients through technical excellence and innovation.
- Draft all legal documents and client advice.
- Deal with interlocutory proceedings, court reviews and client meetings.
- Support marketing and business development activity with the team and the wider Clyde & Co casualty group.
Working Conditions
Hybrid working: 2 days in the office and 3 days working from home.
