The Client Data & Analytics Team is primarily based in Manchester. The team is predominantly focused upon Casualty service lines but is continuing to expand the service delivery of MI to service lines and departments in the UK and globally. The strategic goal of the team is to deliver and enable the analysis of client data to create value, insight, clarity, and operational excellence for our clients.
The firm is in the process of transitioning to an Enterprise Data Warehouse and the creation of Reporting Layers and BI tools will see the structural change from a centralised IT dependency to self-service analytics supported by centre of excellence clusters. Movement within the team has led to a vacancy for a Report Developer Analyst. The role's focus will be to provide Power BI Reporting capacity for the CD&A team under the governance of the Analytics & Business Insights Lead. Depending on the role holder's skills and resource requirements in CD&A, the role may also hold responsibility for a few small to medium clients for MI Service Delivery.
The role is seen as a key support role enabling CD&A to transition from current Excel-based processes to added value Service Delivery and Insight Analytics. The expectation is that this role will lead to opportunities for progression within CD&A depending on the skills and interest of the individual. A legal MI background is highly recommended for success in this role; candidates without this background will be considered if they can demonstrate the ability to deliver immediate value into a team with the commitment to rapidly increase their knowledge base.
Key Responsibilities- Responsible for progressing the delivery of the Power BI Roadmap as defined by the Analytics & Business Insights Lead.
- Create visual reports, dashboards, and KPI scorecards using Power BI Desktop.
- Assist in developing Power BI Paginated reports to meet client requirements.
- Convert Excel operational reports into self-service performance dashboards.
- Create PBI Dashboards and tools to support Operational & Market insights as directed by business SMEs.
- Provide Power BI support to the CD&A Team and assist in queries related to dashboards.
- Help establish reporting governance, protocols, design methodology, and documentation.
- Connect to data sources, import, and transform data for Business Intelligence and reporting.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and understand business requirements for data models.
- Ensure the accuracy of Power BI data by validating it against existing MI and source data.
- Implement basic security measures on data and understand Power BI's application security layer.
- As and when required, own a small portfolio of clients, taking lead responsibility in delivering their contractual MI reporting, working with the business to drive improvements in data integrity and analytics.
- Own the client reporting requirements documentation, maintain, and keep up to date, service delivery process documentation.
- Support transformation projects and process improvements.
- Maintain open and appropriate communication lines with internal stakeholders and Clients always to ensure the firm's needs are met.
- Any other tasks as and when required.
- Must have experience in a recent previous or current role working with Database sources and implementing BI tools.
- Be versed in Insurance Litigation data, understanding impact and connectivity.
- Strong analytical skills for translating data into informative visuals and reports.
- Proficiency in creating DAX queries in Power BI Desktop.
- Ability to perform advanced calculations on data sets/models.
- Experience in developing tabular and multidimensional models.
- Knowledge of prototyping, designing, and requirement analysis.
- Ability to integrate Power BI reports into other applications like SharePoint and using embedded analytics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly understand data and context.
- Ability to work as a member of the Client Data & Analytics Team and establish effective working relationships across other departments to maximise personal contribution.
- Skilled at delivering to challenging timelines whilst maintaining attention to detail and analytical governance and integrity.
- Ability to be calm and retain a professional attitude under pressure.
- Willing and able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines, particularly at certain times of the month/year.
- Excellent organisational skills across a varied workload, ability to prioritise tasks to meet agreed deadlines.
- Comfortable with change and balancing project tasks with BAU workloads.
