Overview
Our national Healthcare Regulatory team is expanding and undertakes a broad spectrum of work defending healthcare professionals and organisations in regulatory proceedings before the statutory regulators (GMC/MPTS, GDC, GOC, GPhC, NMC, HCPC) as well as disciplinary proceedings before NHS Trusts, NHS England and other private healthcare businesses. The team are regularly instructed in Coroner\’s Inquests, CQC proceedings, data disputes and public inquiries. There is also a specialist sub-team who defend healthcare professionals in criminal proceedings. The regulatory team is led by Adam Weston.
The Role
Our Manchester Regulatory team requires an Associate or Senior Associate to handle a varied caseload of regulatory healthcare matters for a range of clients who include, insurance companies, medical and dental defence organisations, private individuals and professional associations.
The successful candidate needs to be able to manage a complex caseload and must have experience of running regulatory and inquest matters in previous roles.
Responsibilities & Requirements
- Manage a varied caseload of regulatory healthcare matters for clients including insurers, medical and dental defence organisations, private individuals and professional associations.
- Deliver high quality legal work for regulatory and inquest matters, with the ability to apply law and guidance to business requirements and international client base.
- Demonstrate strong drafting skills and an appropriate academic background.
- Be a Solicitor with a practising certificate; ideally a minimum of 2 PQE with experience in energy regulation (PQE levels are guidance and all suitable candidates will be considered).
- Comply with the Solicitors Regulation Authority CPD Scheme and hold a valid practising certificate.
- Possess excellent legal ability, initiative, technical skills and the ability to manage and prioritise a full and varied workload.
- Be a strong communicator with attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach with willingness to assume responsibility.
Working Environment
We operate a hybrid model of 2 days per week in the office. Our sociable team often organises events and other opportunities to come together. We are committed to ensuring a flexible and supportive team dynamic, upholding the firm’s “work as one” value. Our chargeable hours target is 6.5 hours per day.
