About Chirk Court - More Than Just a Care Home

Chirk Court is a warm, welcoming residential care home in the heart of Chirk, close to the Welsh-English border. Home to older adults, including residents living with dementia, the home is designed into five smaller household‑style communities. Staff typically support around 14 residents within their own house area rather than caring for a large number of people at once. This creates a calmer, more personal environment where residents are truly known as individuals and meaningful relationships can be built every day. Chirk Court is also proud of its sensory garden, created to give residents a peaceful, welcoming space to relax, socialise, and enjoy time outdoors. The garden, which supports wellbeing and dementia care, has even received recognition from The King for the positive difference it has made to residents and the wider community. This isn’t a rushed, faceless service. Our team takes pride in creating a place where residents feel safe and valued, families feel reassured, and staff genuinely support one another. For many residents, Chirk Court is their home — and the people who work here help make it feel that way every day.

About The Role

As a Care Assistant at Chirk Court, you’ll help residents live comfortably, safely, and with dignity. You’ll become an important part of residents’ daily lives — building trust, offering reassurance, and helping create moments that genuinely matter. No two days are the same. Some moments are practical, others emotional, and many are simply about being there for somebody who needs support, companionship, or encouragement. You’ll work as part of a close‑knit team in a role where kindness, patience, and compassion are just as important as experience.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting residents with personal care including washing, dressing, mobility, and toileting
  • Assisting residents with meals, hydration, and nutrition
  • Supporting residents living with dementia with patience and understanding
  • Helping residents feel comfortable, safe, and socially engaged
  • Building positive relationships with residents, families, and colleagues
  • Administering or supporting with medication following training and procedures
  • Maintaining accurate care records
  • Responding calmly and compassionately to changing needs or emergencies
  • Helping maintain a warm, respectful, and homely environment

What We’re Looking For

  • Kind, patient, and compassionate
  • Reliable and willing to work as part of a team
  • Comfortable supporting older people with varying care needs
  • Good communicators who can build positive relationships
  • Willing to learn and undertake training

Previous care experience is helpful, but not essential for the right person. We will support you in achieving a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care if you don't have this and we will support you to join the Social Care Wales register.

What You’ll Get In Return

  • £13.79 per hour
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Support with Social Care Wales registration
  • Stable hours with full‑time and part‑time opportunities
  • Supportive management and team environment
  • Employee wellbeing and assistance support
  • Opportunity to build a meaningful long‑term career in care
  • The chance to genuinely make a difference every day
