30 Hours per Week | Permanent Contract

Covering Extra Care Schemes across Flintshire, Wrexham & Powys (primarily Shotton, Wrexham and Welshpool)

Looking for a chef role with sociable hours and variety? We're looking for a Chef to join our Extra Care team, supporting schemes across East Wales and helping create positive dining experiences for residents living independently in our communities.

This is a permanent role offering 30 hours per week, with the opportunity to pick up additional hours when cover is required across our schemes.

Unlike many catering roles, there are no late-night finishes or split shifts. Instead, you'll play an important role in bringing people together, creating welcoming mealtime experiences and supporting residents to enjoy the social side of community living.

What's in it for you?

  • Sociable working hours - no late-night finishes or split shifts
  • Work across a variety of Extra Care schemes and build relationships with residents and colleagues
  • Mileage paid - from your nearest scheme when working at alternative locations
  • Permanent 30-hour contract
  • Opportunity to pick up additional hours across our Extra Care schemes
  • Supportive team culture - work alongside experienced colleagues across our services
  • A role with purpose - helping residents enjoy social interaction and community connections every day
  • Vivup discounts and savings platform
  • Cycle to Work scheme

About The Role

Our Extra Care schemes enable people to live independently in their own homes while having access to support when needed. Mealtimes play an important part in community life, providing opportunities for residents to socialise, build friendships and stay connected with those around them.

As a Chef, you'll help create a welcoming dining environment where residents can enjoy spending time together and feel part of their community.

While you'll primarily work across our schemes in Shotton, Wrexham and Welshpool, there may be occasions where you'll provide support at other locations when required.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Preparing and serving meals for residents.
  • Creating a positive and welcoming dining experience.
  • Supporting residents to enjoy mealtimes as a social and community-focused part of their day.
  • Maintaining food hygiene, allergen and health and safety standards.
  • Managing stock and supplies within the kitchen.
  • Working closely with scheme colleagues to support residents' wellbeing.
  • Maintaining a clean, safe and organised kitchen environment.
  • Travelling between schemes as required to provide support and cover.

About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and understands the important role that mealtimes play in bringing communities together.

  • Shares our values of Trust, Kindness and Hope.
  • Is organised, dependable and able to work independently.
  • Enjoys building positive relationships with residents and colleagues.
  • Has a warm and approachable manner.
  • Takes pride in creating a welcoming environment for others.
  • Can adapt to working across different locations.

What You'll Bring

We're keen to hear from people who:

  • Have previous chef or catering experience.
  • Hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, or are willing to obtain one.
  • Understand food safety, allergen management and kitchen compliance requirements.
  • Are comfortable working across multiple locations.
  • Enjoy interacting with people and contributing to a positive community atmosphere.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle.
