Role Overview
The Housing Officer plays a pivotal role in delivering excellent housing management services. You will be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with tenants, managing tenancies effectively, and ensuring compliance with housing policies and legislation. This role requires a committed individual who can balance empathy with strong problem-solving skills to support our residents and contribute to the success of ClwydAlyn.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of tenancies, ensuring rent and service charges are collected efficiently and arrears are minimised.
- Provide advice, support, and assistance to tenants on a range of housing-related issues including tenancy sustainment, welfare benefits, and neighbourhood disputes.
- Conduct regular property inspections to ensure compliance with tenancy agreements and maintain property standards.
- Work closely with colleagues and external agencies to address anti-social behaviour and safeguard vulnerable tenants.
- Assist with the allocation of homes in line with local housing policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare reports relating to tenancy management and performance targets.
- Promote community engagement and encourage tenant participation in housing management activities.
- Ensure all work complies with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and organisational policies.
Qualifications and Experience
- Fluent Welsh speaking.
- Minimum of 2 years' experience in housing management, ideally within the public sector or housing association environment.
- Familiarity with housing legislation, tenancy agreements, and welfare benefits.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with diverse communities.
- Proven ability to manage caseloads, prioritise workloads, and work independently.
- Problem-solving mindset with experience in conflict resolution and handling sensitive situations.
- Proficient in using housing management IT systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Relevant housing qualification (e.g., CIH Level 3 or equivalent) would be advantageous.
- Ability to travel locally within Gwynedd as required.
