This is a challenging and rewarding opportunity to lead housing teams based across Wrexham and Welshpool, supporting colleagues to deliver compliant, high-quality housing services that genuinely improve residents' lives.
As Housing Manager, you'll provide strong, visible leadership to your teams, balancing people management with the practical realities of housing management – including compliance, income, voids and allocations. You'll bring proven people management experience, with the confidence to lead, coach and support teams to perform at their best. You'll also have a solid understanding of housing services, risk and compliance, and the ability to see the bigger picture while still paying attention to the details that matter.
This maternity cover role runs until December 2026 and offers the chance to make a real impact – both for residents and for the colleagues you lead. It's a role that will stretch you, develop you, and give you the satisfaction of knowing your work genuinely makes a difference.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Team leadership & people management
- Lead, motivate, coach and support Housing Officers
- Create an inclusive, high-performing team culture
- Ensure personal development plans align with organisational priorities
- Housing management & compliance
- Oversee housing services including tenancy management, ASB and safeguarding
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies and partnership agreements
- Resident support & wellbeing
- Support residents to sustain tenancies and live well

What we're looking for:
Essential:
- Proven experience in people management, including supporting and managing performance
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong understanding of housing compliance, income, voids and allocations
- Ability to make sound decisions, manage risk and work confidently with stakeholders
- Strong communication and organisational skills
Desirable:
- Background in housing, ideally as a Senior Housing Officer, Housing Manager or similar
- Experience working within a housing management environment
- Confidence supporting housing teams to deliver consistent, high-quality services
