About Hafan Gwydir
Hafan Gwydir is a purpose-built Extra Care scheme with 40 one- and two-bedroom apartments for people aged 60+. It combines independent living with 24/7 on-site care and support and features a restaurant, hair salon, and an adjacent health centre. Residents enjoy a safe, friendly, and community-focused environment where they can live well, stay connected, and enjoy daily life.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes in line with menus and residents' preferences
- Assist in meal preparation, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and stored correctly
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen, following all food safety regulations
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth service during busy periods
- Monitor food stock levels and report any shortages
- Follow recipes accurately while contributing creative ideas for new dishes or menus
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and cleaned regularly
Skills & Experience
- Essential Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate
- Catering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 2 in Professional Cookery) or significant experience in a similar role
- Knowledge of food safety legislation and Safer Food, Better Business (SFBB) practices
- Strong organisational skills and ability to work under pressure
- Positive, flexible, team-oriented 'can-do' attitude
