Llys Raddington Extra Care is a purpose-built Extra Care scheme in Flint, designed to help older people live independently in their own homes, with flexible care and support available on site when needed. This isn’t a traditional care home kitchen. It’s a busy, welcoming community hub where good food plays a big part in daily life, bringing people together, supporting wellbeing, and creating moments residents genuinely look forward to.

Our restaurant and communal dining areas are at the heart of the scheme, offering residents nutritious meals, social interaction, and a sense of routine, independence, and dignity.

The Role – More Than Just Cooking

As Cook, you’ll take pride in preparing fresh, nutritious, and well-presented meals that make a real difference to residents’ health and wellbeing. You’ll be someone who understands that food is more than fuel—it’s comfort, routine, choice, and enjoyment. You’ll lead on daily meal preparation, kitchen standards, and stock control, while helping to create a warm, welcoming dining experience for residents.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Preparing and cooking balanced, nutritious meals for residents
  • Planning and contributing to varied, appealing menus
  • Ensuring food is presented to a high standard
  • Managing stock levels and supporting budget control
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and safety standards at all times
  • Working closely with scheme staff and care teams
  • Creating a positive, welcoming dining environment for residents
  • Supporting residents’ dietary needs, preferences, and allergens

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who brings both skill and heart to the kitchen. You’ll ideally have:

  • City & Guilds Level 2 / NVQ Level 2 in a food-related qualification
  • Level 2 Food Safety and Allergen awareness certificate
  • Experience working as a cook in a commercial kitchen

But just as important, you will be:

  • Passionate about good, honest food
  • Organised and confident working independently
  • Proud of high standards in cleanliness and presentation
  • Comfortable working in a busy, people-focused environment
  • Warm, approachable, and respectful towards older people

Training or refresher support can be provided where needed.

What You’ll Get in Return

  • £13.85 per hour
  • Stable, part-time permanent hours
  • Every other weekend off pattern built into rota
  • Supportive, community-focused working environment
  • Paid Enhanced DBS check
  • Training and refresher opportunities
  • Opportunity to make a daily difference to residents’ lives
  • A role where your food is genuinely appreciated
