Salary - £37,500 - £42,000/annum

The Production Design Engineer will be responsible for the correct design and build of bespoke electrical panels and upkeep of mechanical drawings as specified by the sales team and customer requirements. This will involve liaison with customers and suppliers to identify requirements, creating quotes, Bills of Materials (BOM), drawing layouts and wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical schematics and system layouts using CAD, Microsoft Dynamics and SolidWorks.
  • Create detailed schematic diagrams and wiring diagrams for bespoke systems involving surface mount technology.
  • Conduct testing.
  • Modify mechanical drawings as necessary.
  • Create wiring schematic designs.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineers to ensure electrical components are optimised for mechanical integration.
  • Prepare technical documentation including schematics, layout files, system specifications, and test procedures.
  • Participate in design reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in product development.
Experience
  • Proven experience in electrical engineering design within industrial or automation environments.
  • Hands-on experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or SolidWorks for electrical layout design.
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on complex electrical issues through systematic debugging methods.
  • Mechanical knowledge relevant to electrical component integration is desirable.
  • Experience with BS7671: 2018 (18th Edition) and BS EN 60204: 2018 is useful.
