- This role is a hybrid role - Assistant General Manager and Sales Manager
The Laboratory is an independent multi award winning private health club who have some of the most experienced and knowledgeable Fitness Professionals in the industry within the team.
We endeavour to deliver the highest quality service standards to a diverse membership which ranges from top professional sports performers through to the aged athlete and beginners alike who are just starting their health and fitness journey.
The Role
- Under the general guidance and supervision of the General Manager/s to manage the Club’s standards, customer service and health & safety to the highest standards possible.
- To actively manage and review the new membership sales CRM and strive towards achieving the Clerkenwell’s annual and monthly new membership targets and to implement and shape the club’s retention strategy.
- To promote business to business outreach and be the Club’s ambassador for community wide initiatives driving sales leads.
- To report daily/weekly the club’s sales / NET movement performance and membership mix.
- To work with the General Manager/s in reviewing and maximising the Club’s marketing initiatives in line with attracting new members against budget.
- To work with the Social Media Manager to create and promote content on the various media platforms.
- To manage staff rotas effectively and remain responsible for the annual leave plan, working closely with the HOF in regards to the gym team.
- To promote a culture of never-ending improvement in every aspect of the Club’s operations and performance.
- To work with the Landlords facilities manager in resolving and providing updates on routine maintenance / fault finding.
- To be inspirational as AGM in the club’s financial performance and to foster a strong sense of success within the Clerkenwell team.
Management
- To uphold the Club rules and regulations and provisions contained in the employee handbook.
- To assist the General Manager/s in HR procedures including investigation meetings and disciplinary’s (up until the point of employment termination).
- To lead and uphold daily the companies grooming and uniform standards.
- To uphold and scrutinise staff timekeeping and attendance policies.
- To actively promote and participate in training and development programmes and maximise opportunities for staff development.
- To ensure that staff retention is monitored and that the club culture motivates staff and encourage positive working relationships.
Customer Service
- To lead by example in the high standards of customer service as set by the company.
- To proactively sell club memberships and secondary spend lines.
- To follow though and be active in the dealing with member suggestions / complaints.
- To ensure that all staff are providing the highest levels of customer service and to take personal responsibility in improving customer service situations whenever they may arise.
- To promote a high level of current general club knowledge amongst the staff including operational information and procedural awareness.
Health & Safety
- To demonstrate an understanding and awareness of all policies and procedures relating to health, hygiene and fire safety.
- To lead the club’s H&S strategy.
- To provide training for all new members of staff in health & safety policies and procedures within your department.
- To ensure all accidents and serious incidents are recorded and reported to the necessary authorities and liaise with the General Manager/s around health and safety concerns.
- To assist in the maintenance management of the facility.
General
- To ensure hourly ‘walk rounds’ are completed in order to keep up high operational / cleanliness standards.
- To ensure that the daily checks are being completed, logged and filed away as per our health and safety provision.
- To familiarise yourself with the company vision and values, which link to our model of, desired behaviours that we expect from all employees.
- To perform other tasks at the level of the role as directed by the General Manager/Company Directors in pursuit of the achievement of business goals.
- To show a desire and ability to improve your knowledge and abilities through on-going training.
- To comply and support the company code of conduct at all times.
- To demonstrate an ability to work and lead as part of a diverse team with colleagues from different viewpoints, cultures and backgrounds.
