Do you enjoy working with children and bringing energy to their day? We’re looking for Playworkers to join our friendly team at Long Ditton Infant and NurserySchool in Surbiton, running our afterschool club for children aged 3–7.
This is a hands-on role where every session is different – one moment you’ll be helping with snacks or setting up a craft table, the next you’ll be outdoors playing games or supporting free play.

The Role
As a Playworker, you’ll:
- Support the fun – get involved with child-led play, crafts, cookery, outdoor games, and activities.
- Keep things running smoothly – help prepare snacks, set up play areas, and tidy away at the end of sessions.
- Look after wellbeing – follow safeguarding, first aid, and health & safety procedures to keep children safe.
- Be a friendly face – build positive relationships with children, parents, and school staff.
- Work as a team – support colleagues to make each session enjoyable and stress-free.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Caring, reliable, and friendly
- Confident working with children (experience with ages 3–7is ideal)
- Creative and willing to get stuck into a range of activities
- A great communicator and team player
Desirable extras: childcare/playwork qualifications, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Safeguarding training – but don’t worry if you don’t have these yet, we’ll provide training.
The Practical Bits
- Location: Long Ditton Infant and NurserySchool, Surbiton,Surrey
- Hours: 14:30–18:00, Monday–Friday (term time only). Job share available.Option of extra work in holiday clubs.
- Contract: Permanent, variablehours
- Pay: £12.21/hr starting rate, plus 12.07% holiday pay uplift (total £13.68/hr). Pay increases with training and years of service.
- Training: First Aid and Safeguarding training included and paid for
