An opportunity to lead a successful members’ golf club through an exciting period in its development.
Lamberhurst Golf Club is a long-established, member-owned parkland golf club set in the Kent countryside.
Proud of our heritage but ambitious for our future, we are developing a long-term strategy designed to establish Lamberhurst amongst the leading members’ clubs in Kent – delivering an outstanding golf course and member experience while building a financially strong, inclusive and sustainable Club for future generations.
Rooted in Tradition, Embracing Change for a Stronger Future
We are now seeking an exceptional General Manager to lead the Club’s day-to-day operations and help turn that ambition into reality.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Chair and accountable to the Club Management Board, the General Manager will be the Club’s senior executive, with responsibility for the leadership and performance of the organisation.
The CMB sets the Club’s strategy and provides governance and oversight. The General Manager is empowered to lead the day-to-day operation within that framework.
This is much more than an administrative role. We are looking for someone who can lead and develop our people, deliver an excellent member and visitor experience, manage a diverse operation effectively, drive sustainable commercial performance and work closely with the Board to deliver our long-term plans.
The successful candidate will lead a management team covering the golf course, golf operations and hospitality, while also managing important relationships with our Head Professional and external partners.
They will play a central role in priorities including the continued improvement of our golf course, environmental and water sustainability, future clubhouse and facilities investment, member engagement, commercial development, brand and community relationships.
The person
You may already be an accomplished golf club General Manager – but we are equally interested in candidates from other high-quality member, hospitality, leisure or service environments who can demonstrate the right leadership qualities and an understanding of what makes a successful members’ club.
We are particularly interested in people who can demonstrate:
- strong and inclusive leadership;
- excellent people-management and team-development skills;
- sound financial and commercial judgement;
- the ability to translate strategy into results;
- outstanding communication and relationship-building skills;
- a genuine commitment to member and customer service;
- confidence working constructively with an elected Board;
- good judgement, diplomacy and personal integrity; and
- an appetite for improvement while respecting the traditions and character that make Lamberhurst special.
Knowledge of golf-club management would be an advantage, but leadership capability, cultural fit and the ability to build a high-performing organisation will be central to our decision.
This is an opportunity to make a significant impact at a financially established members’ club with an engaged membership, committed employees and ambitious plans for its future.
We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, together with support for continued professional development.
Salary Competitive – dependent on Experience.
Location Lamberhurst, Kent.
Contract Full-time, permanent.
Benefits Employer pension contribution, professional development support, courtesy golf, staff food & beverage discount and on-site parking.
Lamberhurst Golf Club welcomes applications from candidates of all backgrounds and is committed to creating an inclusive working environment.
