Role Description
The Fitness Manager is a full‑time, on‑site role based at Club Eight³ in Chatham. This role oversees day‑to‑day fitness floor operations, including scheduling and supervising coaches and trainers, maintaining high standards of member experience, and ensuring safe, effective use of equipment and facilities.
The Fitness Manager designs and implements group exercise and small group training programs, supports personal training services, and collaborates with wellness practitioners to integrate performance training with recovery and lifestyle medicine. Responsibilities include conducting fitness assessments, developing individualized programs, monitoring progress, and engaging with members to foster a supportive, results‑oriented community. The Fitness Manager also contributes to programming innovation, staff development, and continuous improvement of the club’s longevity and wellness offerings.
Qualifications
- Strong background in the fitness industry, including experience in premium or boutique fitness environments.
- Proficiency in group exercise and group training, with the ability to design and lead engaging, evidence‑based sessions.
- Hands‑on experience in personal training, including client assessment, goal setting, and program progression.
- Knowledge of exercise physiology and best practices for safe, effective training across a range of abilities.
- Relevant certifications (e.g. PT, group exercise, strength and conditioning) and CPR/First Aid; a degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field is advantageous.
- Demonstrated leadership skills, including staff coaching, team coordination, and fostering a positive, inclusive culture.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and motivate members toward long‑term health and performance goals.
- Organizational skills and comfort with using digital tools for scheduling, member management, and program tracking.
