Our business has evolved enormously over the last 17 years, from 18 year old Matt at his parents’ home to the multi award-winning, multi-million pound, industry leading company we are today. We’re proud to be the most in-demand and highest-rated events company in the country and we plan to keep it that way. That reputation and demand means we’re growing exponentially and forever looking for new amazing people to join us!
About the Role:
We are looking for a delightful tech-wizard to be our Junior AV Technician – with a video focus – to work alongside Mark, Alasdair, Alex H and Nathan R. You’ll be a key cog in our ever-growing AV events team. You’ll be delivering and installing our video equipment (along with some lighting, audio, sets and staging) to high-end hotels, venues, corporate offices and exhibition halls in and around (predominantly) London. Then putting a Clownfish shirt on and operating Blackmagic Design Production Switchers, Avolites lighting consoles, Allen & Heath Avantis & SQ digital mixers and Qlab media servers; ultimately keeping our clients delighted by nailing their event technically.
We’re looking for someone who radiates positivity, loves working as part of a team and embodies the ‘whatever it takes’ mentality. As this is a ‘junior’ role, we’re happy to provide training on the job, but we need you to have a good (not perfect) technical understanding of video that will fill the majority of your role. We’ll also work with you to develop a range of technical skills across all the disciplines to assist across our AV events.
We believe that extraordinary events start with extraordinary people that are willing to work hard… so if you’re looking for something super chilled, this job isn’t for you. We’ve installed events and parties at some of the world’s biggest brands including HSBC, British Airways, Amazon, KPMG, John Lewis, TikTok, Apple and Google. In the last few months, we’ve provided the AV for the press launches of World of Warcraft, Black Ops 6 and the 2026 British Watchmakers’ Day.
What a Day Might Look Like:
- Given the nature of our industry, events can be any day from Monday to Sunday. Shifts are often 8-12 hours (including driving to/from event venues). This is not a typical 9-5am and this role requires flexibility.
- Prepping and maintaining AV equipment and loading into Clownfish vans.
- Spec’ing and allocating equipment with our inventory software.
- Transporting, installing and then operating a variety of AV equipment for high-end events.
- Working as a team to make every event memorable and achieve 5* feedback. Our team is what makes the events special for the clients, not just the d&b PA.
- Video: assisting with the installation of Blackmagic Design and Panasonic cameras, Samsung screens, Epsom 20k projectors and LED video walls, as well as operating switchers and media servers during events.
- Other AV support including:
- Lighting: assisting with the setup of lighting rigs, operating Portman and Clay Paky moving heads, Core uplighters, Titan Tubes and LED profiles.
- Audio: helping to set up and operate d&b PA systems, creating balanced live mixes and ensuring flawless audio for guests.
- Event Planning: supporting the logistics behind events, such as managing equipment preparation, site visits, designing plans and assisting with warehouse duties from time to time.
- Occasional support on other projects within Clownfish (entertainment events, in-house tech support and warehouse improvements).
Reports to: Operations Director.
Schedule: 5 days a week, Monday to Sunday (minimum 38.75 hour weeks). Shifts confirmed minimum of 10 days prior. Event days are variable and hours are often irregular – this role requires flexibility. Warehouse days are 9-5.30pm.
Location: Onsite at event venues across London and surrounding areas. Warehouse based in Chessington, Greater London – access by vehicle or ease of getting in for irregular hours is essential.
Bonus: Annual profit share if company targets are hit.
Holiday: 30 days, including 8 bank holidays.
