Role is within the Clover UK Field Sales team. You will lead a high-performing group of Business Consultants focused on revenue growth through the acquisition of quality switcher merchants. The team operates remotely across defined territories, sourcing new business opportunities and leveraging networks.
You will coach and motivate your team to deliver against sales and behavioural targets, adopting a consultative, value-based approach to selling Clover’s software plans and value-added services. You will empower consultants to act as trusted advisors, solving merchant pain points and positioning Clover as a strategic solution for business growth. You will also support building long-term merchant relationships and portfolios through cross-consulting and retention strategies, fostering accountability, ethical conduct, and high performance aligned with Fiserv values.
Accountabilities
- Customer Contact & Relationship Management: Lead a team of field-based Business Consultants focused on acquiring merchants with annual card turnover between £100k and £5m; build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, senior management, and business owners. Ensure clear, structured, jargon-free communication of Clover’s value proposition; support commercial, operational, and technical discussions to meet merchant needs. Oversee tailored commercial proposals and solutions aligned with merchant pain points and business goals; facilitate smooth onboarding and cross-functional collaboration. Act as an escalation point for technical issues, operational challenges, and merchant concerns; champion a customer-first mindset to drive long-term satisfaction and retention.
- Sales Leadership & Negotiation: Coach and motivate the team to meet and exceed sales targets through proactive lead generation and value-based selling. Identify cross-sell opportunities and expand merchant portfolios through strategic solution selling. Lead commercial negotiations at senior levels to secure mutually beneficial outcomes for Clover and the merchant. Support internal negotiations to develop bespoke solutions and improve operational processes.
- Decision Making & Performance Management: Make sound commercial decisions driving mid- to long-term revenue growth. Identify performance trends and address underperformance or develop high-potential talent. Collaborate with consultants and merchants to agree on implementation strategies that maximise impact.
- Planning & Operational Excellence: Lead effective time and territory management, planning field activity and managing pipelines via CRM tools. Keep consultants informed on client developments, industry trends, and Clover’s evolving product suite. Oversee merchant onboarding, including paperwork, compliance checks, risk assessments, and due diligence for a smooth implementation. Monitor internal compliance standards and ensure merchants adhere to scheme rules and regulations. Provide feedback to senior leadership on product development needs and market opportunities.
- Technology Competence & Reporting: Ensure the team uses sales tools, CRM systems, and Excel for reporting and analysis; support troubleshooting of merchant issues. Promote continuous learning and digital fluency to keep pace with evolving technology and product offerings.
