Our client are a law firm who are looking for a Compliance Officer or Compliance Manager to work closely with the Head of Compliance (COLP).

To be based in York, this role is to help ensure the regulatory requirements are met and people are supported to implement regulatory changes.

The role would suit someone either with a compliance background or an experienced Solicitor with a keen interest in this area.

The role will involve

  • Keeping up to date with developments in regulation and legislation.
  • Supporting the COLP with the communication and implementation of compliance changes and updates.
  • Supporting with audits, reviewing reports and monitoring trends.
  • Working with the MLRO, MLCO and COLP to draft and escalate required reports to the appropriate regulator.
  • Supporting the COLP with the development and rollout of projects to promote awareness of risk and to enable us to pro-actively anticipate and mitigate issues.
  • Responding to compliance related queries and providing support, training and guidance across teams as needed.

They are looking for someone who

  • Has a solid background within a compliance role, or someone who is legally qualified and has a keen interest in compliance.
  • Has proven experience in building positive relationships and influencing people.
  • Has a pro-active, can-do attitude
  • Can prioritise when working under pressure and make objective business-based decisions.
  • Has the ability and knowledge to give advice, within the key responsibilities listed above, with an understanding of the necessary commercial approach.
  • Has excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to write clearly and concisely and position tone effectively.
  • The company will consider someone full-time or part-time
