Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) – Norwich

Experienced RMN | Autism & Learning Disabilities | Complex Care | Norwich | Ongoing Opportunities

Experienced Registered Mental Health Nurse Required

At Clover Care Group, we believe great care starts with seeing the person, not just their care needs.

We are looking for an experienced and compassionate Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to join a dedicated care package supporting a young adult in Norwich.

This is a rewarding opportunity for a nurse who combines strong clinical knowledge with patience, empathy and a genuine commitment to delivering person-centred care.

The individual we support has autism, a severe learning disability and ADHD and communicates primarily through signs, gestures and behaviour rather than spoken language.

They require a calm, structured and consistent approach from professionals who understand the importance of recognising behaviour as communication, responding appropriately to sensory needs and promoting emotional wellbeing.

About the role

As a Registered Mental Health Nurse, you will provide skilled nursing support within a dedicated care team, helping to maintain the individual's safety, wellbeing and quality of life.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering safe, effective and person-centred nursing care

  • Supporting an individual with autism, severe learning disabilities and ADHD

  • Recognising and responding to changes in behaviour, emotional wellbeing and mental health presentation

  • Applying positive behaviour support (PBS) principles and following established behaviour support plans

  • Supporting communication through signs, gestures and individualised communication methods

  • Identifying triggers for distress, anxiety and sensory overload

  • Using proactive strategies to reduce distress and prevent behavioural escalation

  • Supporting consistent daily routines and predictable environments

  • Administering and monitoring medication in accordance with the MAR chart and clinical guidance

  • Monitoring physical health, including bowel health, IBS and constipation

  • Recognising changes in physical health that may contribute to behavioural distress

  • Supporting safe personal care and daily living activities where required

  • Promoting independence, dignity, choice and meaningful engagement

  • Maintaining accurate clinical documentation, observations and handovers

  • Working collaboratively with family members, care workers and Clover's wider clinical team

  • Escalating clinical concerns and contributing to ongoing care planning and risk management

What we're looking for

Current NMC registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) is essential.

We are looking for a nurse who is:

  • Experienced in supporting individuals with autism and learning disabilities

  • Confident working with individuals who communicate non-verbally

  • Knowledgeable in positive behaviour support and proactive behaviour management

  • Able to recognise early signs of distress, anxiety and behavioural escalation

  • Experienced in medication administration and clinical monitoring

  • Confident assessing and responding to changes in mental and physical health

  • Calm, patient and compassionate, particularly in challenging situations

  • Able to follow detailed care plans and individualised risk assessments

  • Committed to safeguarding, dignity and person-centred practice

  • Comfortable working within a structured and consistent care environment

  • A strong communicator who can work collaboratively with families and multidisciplinary teams

  • Reliable and committed to providing continuity of care

Previous experience in community mental health nursing, learning disability services, autism support or complex care would be particularly valuable.

About you and our values

For this package, clinical expertise is only part of what makes an excellent nurse.

We are looking for someone who understands that behaviour often communicates an unmet need, discomfort, anxiety or frustration.

Someone who can remain calm when situations become challenging, recognise subtle changes in presentation and respond with understanding rather than confrontation.

Most importantly, we want a nurse who will take the time to build trust, respect individuality and support the person to enjoy a fulfilling and meaningful life.

Because at Clover Care Group, the best people care.

Why join Clover Care?

  • Competitive RMN hourly rate

  • Ongoing opportunities within an established care package in Norwich

  • Dedicated support from an experienced clinical team

  • Package-specific induction and competency development

  • Opportunity to apply specialist mental health nursing skills within a community setting

  • A genuinely person-centred approach to care

  • The opportunity to make a meaningful difference to someone's everyday life
