Clover Care Group is looking for experienced, compassionate and reliable Complex Care Support Workers / Carers to join a dedicated care package supporting an individual with complex respiratory, neurological and medical needs in her own home. This is a rewarding opportunity to become part of a consistent care team where providing safe, person-centred support and building a positive relationship with the individual are equally important.
At Clover Care Group, we believe in seeing the person, not just their care needs. We are looking for carers who share this approach and want to make a genuine difference to someone's quality of life.
The individual lives at home with her beloved dogs and enjoys the comfort and familiarity of her own environment. She has Myotonic Dystrophy, which has caused significant muscle weakness affecting both her mobility and respiratory function. Due to reduced respiratory effort, she relies on ventilator support overnight via a tracheostomy and requires appropriately trained carers who can provide attentive, responsive and reassuring support. She also requires regular respiratory management, including tracheal and oral suctioning and the use of a Cough Assist device to help clear secretions, as she is unable to cough effectively independently. In addition, she lives with Type 1 Diabetes and requires regular blood glucose monitoring and insulin management in line with her care plan and prescribed treatment regimen.
Clinical Care Requirements
- Tracheostomy care
- Ventilator support and monitoring overnight
- Tracheal suctioning when clinically indicated and within competency
- Oral suctioning as required
- Cough Assist therapy as prescribed
- Monitoring respiratory presentation and recognising changes from normal baseline
- Monitoring oxygen saturation where required
- Recognising and responding promptly to respiratory deterioration
- Following emergency tracheostomy and respiratory protocols
- Blood glucose monitoring
- Supporting diabetes management in line with care plans and clinical guidance
- Supporting mobility and safe repositioning
- Personal care and toileting support
- Maintaining infection prevention and control standards
- Accurate care documentation and timely escalation of concerns
All clinical interventions must only be undertaken following appropriate training and competency assessment.
The Person
This role is about much more than clinical care. You will support the individual with her comfort, wellbeing, independence and daily living needs while ensuring she remains at the centre of all decision-making regarding her care. Because respiratory management is a key aspect of this package, carers must be observant and confident recognising subtle changes in breathing patterns, comfort levels and overall presentation. Remaining calm under pressure and responding appropriately to clinical concerns is essential.
We Are Looking For
- Experienced in complex care, ideally with tracheostomy and ventilator experience
- Confident or willing to undertake training in tracheostomy care, suctioning and Cough Assist
- Experienced in supporting individuals with respiratory conditions
- Comfortable monitoring and managing clinical observations
- Familiar with or willing to learn diabetes care and blood glucose monitoring
- Patient, calm and observant
- Reliable and committed to providing consistent, high-quality care
- Able to follow detailed care plans and clinical protocols
- Confident recognising and escalating changes in condition
- Respectful of dignity, privacy, choice and independence
- Warm, compassionate and genuinely person-centred
Previous experience supporting individuals with tracheostomies, ventilators, respiratory support and diabetes management is highly desirable. However, package-specific training and competency assessments will be provided where appropriate.
