Do you have a strong understanding of school finances, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities? Join our team as a School Finance Assistant at a prestigious school in South London. This is a hybrid (remote/ work from home) position, offering 2 days on-site work and 3 days of remote work each week., * Support Finance Officer(s) in delivering value-added, customer-focused business support, ensuring Headteachers meet financial needs through sound financial management and reporting.

Assist in developing financial competence and compliance in using school financial systems (e.g., Xero, Approval Max).

Process purchase orders, invoices, and manage goods receipts, ensuring audit trails and obtaining best value for goods and services.

Produce regular and ad-hoc financial reports for stakeholders and manage internal charges (e.g., reprographics, catering).

Oversee finance records, including accruals and prepayments, and manage quarterly and annual accounts closure.

Manage school fund operations, including bank reconciliation, invoicing, debt collection, and liaising with suppliers.

Update and maintain the school’s Asset Register, manage the collection of music fees, and handle insurance and telephone system matters.

Support the Finance Officer with financial reporting, contracts, leases, and compliance, while ensuring efficiency, value for money, and effective stakeholder relationships.

Experience of working in maintained schools with an understanding of school accounts.

Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Experience in school budget setting, monitoring, and account closures.

Ability to interpret financial data and apply logic and judgment.

Excellent communication skills and ability to build effective working relationships.

Strong organizational skills, able to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Proficient in Xero, school finance systems, IT, and Excel.

Quick learner with a financial qualification (CIPFA/AAT) or currently studying towards one.

Experience using Approval Max.
