The Role: As a digital/product designer, you’ll work as part of our Brand team, and report to our Principal Brand Designer, Alison Newman. Working with Alison, you’ll design a stream of improvements and new experiences for our website, Cloudsmith.com. You’ll design new atoms, components, blocks and pages to solve specific challenges, and you’ll craft entire new experiences (engaging technology stories, interactive tools) to meet wider brand and communication objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Concept Development: You’ll develop creative concepts in response to business problems; taking input from the brand team, sales team, marketing team - then developing ideas for our website. You’ll take content - e.g. written materials - and develop creative solutions to communicating that content online. You’ll critically evaluate and develop the best of your ideas with input from the brand and wider design teams. You’ll work in support of other functions in the business; marketing, sales, product - who need our website to be successful; publishing content, communicating key messages, describing product benefits.
  • Digital Design: You’ll design new components, pages, interactive experiences for our website - Cloudsmith.com. You’ll design standalone micro-sites and once-off online tools to help meet specific brand or commercial objectives. You’ll design for our social media channels, helping to bring wider attention to Cloudsmith. You’ll be the go-to digital designer when the brand team want to create a novel online experience.
  • Design Systems, Continuous Improvement: Continuous improvement - You will look for ways to improve existing pages, blocks, components, experiences on our website. Design system - You will maintain and extend our website design system to cater for new use cases and experiences. You’ll help us to keep the website in line with other online touchpoints like our web application (app.cloudsmith.com), documentation website (docs.cloudsmith.com) - through regular collaboration and interaction with other teams.

Required Experience, Qualities & Skills:

  • Essential Skills: 3+ years of relevant digital design experience working in-house at a technology or digital product company, or relevant agency experience. An excellent portfolio of digital design work demonstrating web/digital design, interactive design; preferably work that’s online we can look at and interact with. Strong fundamental design skills; layout, typography, colour, illustration. Advanced skills in Figma; essential design skills, incorporating design systems/libraries, working with variables. Ability to work hands‑on with web developers to support translation of design to working builds. A very strong understanding of what can and can’t be built for the browser; and the ability to work within realistic technical constraints. Some hands‑on prototyping abilities in html, css, js is desirable, even if supported by AI.
