My insurance client are looking for a capable System Administrator to take ownership of our infrastructure and cloud environment, with a particular emphasis on AWS system administration. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be instrumental in maintaining secure, high-performing systems while helping to drive cost efficiency, automation, and compliance across the business.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Maintain and secure cloud-based systems and infrastructure (primarily AWS)
- Configure and optimise services such as virtual servers, networking, monitoring tools, and cloud databases
- Manage and apply software patches, service upgrades, and infrastructure hardening
- Automate processes using tools like CloudFormation, scripting (Bash/Python), and CI/CD
- Monitor system health and performance, resolve incidents, and ensure high availability
- Provide technical support and knowledge sharing across internal teams
- Own configuration management and contribute to cost-effective service improvements
System Security & Compliance
- Contribute to internal security policies, incident response planning, and compliance monitoring
- Assist in security audits, vulnerability assessments, and reporting
- Support external security engagements and manage secure client environments
- Keep abreast of regulatory changes, cloud security practices, and industry trends
What We’re Looking For
- Strong AWS cloud infrastructure experience (EC2, RDS, VPC, WAF, Lambda, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. CloudFormation)
- Good grasp of infrastructure security and governance (e.g. AWS Config, Security Hub)
- Familiarity with cost optimisation, drift remediation, and secure automation
- Proficiency with Linux systems, scripting (Bash, Python/Boto3), and Git
- Excellent troubleshooting skills and a passion for system performance and uptime
- Bonus: Experience with GDPR or compliance frameworks is a plus
