Security Engineering – Senior Engineer. Salary Circa £55,000 National. Salary Circa £75,000 London.
We are seeking a skilled & certified Cyber Security professional to join Aviva’s Security Engineering Team; working within the wider Group CISO (Chief Information Security Office) business unit. As a senior member of the team, you will be responsible for reviewing and enhancing our tooling including, but not limited to, Logging Infrastructure, SIEM, EDR, and IPS. This role requires a strong understanding of security technologies, threat detection methodologies, and security best practices.
A bit about the job:
As the Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Reviewing and improving the technology stack and deployment.
- Reviewing and improving security policies.
- BAU service operations including service incident response.
- Threat identification and analysis.
- Documentation and reporting.
Aviva operates a “smart working” policy meaning that we spend approximately half of our time working in an office. This role is based in Norwich, Bristol, York or London.
Skills & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
- Proven experience with SIEM, EDR, IPS platforms, common programming languages (JavaScript), and pattern matching.
- Strong understanding of security logging, threat detection, and incident response methodologies.
- Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, etc.) alongside a strong background in cloud environments.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and strong communication and collaboration skills.

- Starting salary of circa £55,000 (National) and circa £75,000 (London) depending on location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
