What makes this role exciting: We are seeking a proactive and people-oriented UK Payroll Supervisor to join our growing UK operations. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of payroll professionals, ensuring the accurate and timely delivery of end-to-end UK payroll services in a dynamic, multi-client environment. This role is ideal for someone who combines strong technical payroll knowledge with a passion for team development, client success, and continuous improvement. You’ll play a vital part in maintaining high standards of compliance and customer satisfaction, while helping your team grow and thrive in a collaborative and inclusive workplace.

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of payroll professionals to ensure consistent high performance and engagement.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance check-ins, and development conversations.
  • Provide guidance on complex payroll matters, ensuring adherence to internal processes and external regulations.
  • Support onboarding and provide system training and guidance on new payroll updates.
  • Oversee the full UK payroll cycle, including data validation, processing, reconciliation, and reporting.
  • Ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery in line with agreed service levels.
  • Act as an escalation point for client queries, providing prompt and effective resolution.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support satisfaction, retention, and trust.
  • Join regular client calls and follow up on outstanding items.
  • Continuously review payroll processes to identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.
  • Monitor and action industry and legislative changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Use data and analytics to evaluate team and client performance, and lead targeted improvements.
  • Ensure adherence to internal calendars and deadlines by both clients and team members.

Experience needed for this role:

  • Solid experience with end-to-end UK payroll processing, ideally in a bureau or multi-client environment.
  • Familiarity with UK payroll regulations, systems, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong analytical, time management, and prioritisation skills in a fast-paced setting.
  • Clear and confident communicator, capable of building relationships at all levels.
  • Committed to delivering an outstanding client experience with attention to accuracy and service quality.
  • Experience in team leadership or mentoring, with openness to candidates stepping into their first formal leadership role.
  • Passion for professional growth and staying informed on payroll trends and changes.
  • A CIPP qualification (or working toward one) is a plus, though not essential.
