The EHS Manager – UK is a strategic role responsible for leading the Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) initiatives for data center construction and development projects in the UK region. As part of a developer-led organization, the EHS Manager plays a critical role in ensuring that all projects comply with UK legislation, environmental policies, and best practices while promoting a robust culture of workplace safety. This role requires proactive engagement with internal development teams, contractors, and external stakeholders to minimize risks, enhance sustainability, and ensure operational excellence during the planning, construction, and operational phases of CloudHQ’s data center projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor EHS programs across all phases of the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with CloudHQ’s corporate standards.
  • Ensure compliance with UK legislation on health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Manage environmental impact assessments and ensure sustainability practices are incorporated into all development projects.
  • Conduct regular audits, site inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Oversee waste management, energy efficiency, and sustainability measures during construction and operational phases.
  • Collaborate with design and construction teams to incorporate green building practices and reduce the project's carbon footprint.
  • Provide guidance for environmental compliance reporting, ensuring all documentation meets regulatory standards and certification goals.

Workplace Safety

Requirements

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years’ experience managing Environment, Health, and Safety responsibilities in construction or industrial projects, ideally within mission‑critical infrastructure (e.g., data).
  • Proven knowledge of UK EHS legislation and European safety standards (e.g., ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

Technical Abilities

  • Ability to assess environmental site conditions and implement impact minimization strategies.
  • Experience in incident investigation techniques, risk assessments, and developing corrective action plans.
