The Senior Project Manager will act as the principal liaison across internal teams, external stakeholders, contractors, consultants, and vendors with a focus on critical data infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of pre-construction planning and execution during construction, ensuring projects meet CloudHQ’s standards of quality and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • The Senior Project Manager will drive pre-construction and manage construction execution for data center builds, ensuring smooth transitions between project phases and timely delivery of operational-ready facilities.
  • Take ownership of end-to-end execution for data center construction projects, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality facilities.
  • Oversee and manage all construction activities, working directly with general contractors, subcontractors, and consultants.
  • Act as the primary liaison between CloudHQ and project stakeholders during construction, resolving issues and driving execution aligned with project goals.
  • Monitor and control project timelines, budgets, and risks, ensuring adherence to established milestones and parameters.
  • Ensure accurate installation of critical data center components, including electrical systems (UPS, switchgear, generators) and mechanical systems (HVAC, cooling infrastructure).
  • Attend regular site inspections and evaluate construction progress to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
  • Participate in factory witness testing for major data center equipment to ensure proper functionality before delivery to the site.
  • Support modular and prefabricated construction methodologies where applicable, coordinating with suppliers and vendors for efficient scheduling and delivery of components.
  • Collaborate closely with commissioning teams to ensure seamless testing and validation of systems before handover.
  • Prepare and deliver progress reports for leadership, highlighting risks, solutions, and milestones achieved during construction.
  • Build strong relationships with architects, engineers, contractors, vendors, and municipalities across Europe to ensure smooth coordination during pre-construction and construction phases.
  • Work collaboratively with internal CloudHQ teams (legal, finance, operations, and design) to ensure alignment at every stage of project delivery.
  • Attend project meetings, representing CloudHQ’s interests and driving actionable decisions to keep projects on track.
  • Champion construction site safety and enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards in compliance with EU regulations and local codes.
  • Ensure contractors, vendors, and subcontractors align their work with CloudHQ’s corporate standards and safety initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive experience driving ground-up data center construction projects, including the delivery and installation of critical power, cooling, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with prefabricated/modular construction techniques relevant to hyperscale environments.
  • Skilled in coordinating factory witness testing and assessing major equipment (UPS, cooling systems, generators) for commissioning.
  • Strong leadership in managing large, multidisciplinary projects independently, ensuring objectives are met safely and efficiently.
  • Proficiency in delivering projects on time and within budget, using robust cost controls and project tracking tools.
  • Knowledge of project management software.
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to present complex project details clearly to leadership, partners, and stakeholders.
  • A team-oriented mindset, demonstrating collaboration across departments and maintaining positive working relationships with external contractors.
  • Problem-solving ability with a focus on actionable solutions to resolve risks and project obstacles quickly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience in data center construction or industrial industries with a focus on pre-construction and construction oversight.
