At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code.

As a Senior Product Manager for Application Protection & Governance, you’ll join our core Application Security team to protect web and API applications against evolving abuse and threat patterns. You will own the product outcomes that help customers deploy, operate, and improve security controls over time, turning complex security requirements into practical capabilities and operational guidance.

In this role, you will partner with engineering, security specialists, and the go-to-market organization to define product direction and drive adoption across areas including web, LLM, and API protection. You’ll also establish measurement and feedback loops to assess effectiveness, reduce customer operational friction, and continuously iterate based on real-world results.

You’ll be the strategic anchor for these initiatives aligning customer needs, internal safety requirements, and technical feasibility to deliver reliable protection for applications at global scale.

Responsibilities

  • End-to-End Product Ownership: Own the entire user journey for your product portfolio, ensuring a seamless experience across both programmatic APIs and user-facing dashboards (UX). Collaborate closely with design teams to build intuitive, developer-friendly interfaces.
  • Roadmap & Strategy: Deeply understand the application security landscape and analyze customer pain points to define, prioritize, and own the product roadmap.
  • Voice of the Customer: Meet regularly with customers and partners to gather direct feedback, understand real-world deployment challenges, and continuously inject customer insights back into the product lifecycle.
  • Iterative Execution: Partner with engineering and the broader application security organization to ship impactful features. At Cloudflare, we are biased for action; we prioritise shipping early, gathering data, and iterating rapidly.
  • Go-to-Market & Documentation: Own all customer-facing communications and technical documentation, ensuring complex security features are easily understood and adopted by our users.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for your products, both internally and externally.
  • Sales & Support Enablement: Actively support the sales organization across all stages of customer engagement (pre-sales strategy and post-sales expansion and adoption). Collaborate tightly with Customer Support to resolve technical issues and incidents.

Key Qualifications

  • Proven Product Management Experience: 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager successfully delivering high-scale cloud solutions targeted at a technical audience within the B2B SaaS industry.
  • Customer Focus: Ability to design for massive enterprises without compromising the experience for individual developers and small businesses.
  • Deep Technical Acumen: Comfortable engaging in deep technical discussions with engineering teams. You can quickly grasp complex security concepts and translate them into clear, compelling narratives for customers.
  • AI-Driven Productivity: Embrace and actively adopt advanced AI tools to work autonomously, streamline product management workflows, and maximise efficiency to ship high-quality products faster.
  • Preferred Experience: Professional background in web security, API security, application security, or cloud security infrastructure is highly preferred.

Compensation may be adjusted depending on work location. For New York City based hires: Estimated annual salary of $156,000 - $210,000. Cloudflare offers a complete package of benefits and programs to support you and your family.

How to prepare for a job interview at Cloudflare

Brush Up on Your Coding Skills

For a full-time software engineering role, it's crucial that we stay sharp with our coding abilities. Expect technical questions that might involve solving problems on the spot or discussing algorithms. Practise on platforms like LeetCode or HackerRank to get comfortable with the types of questions that often come up.

Know Your Tools and Frameworks

Make sure we’re well-acquainted with the tools and technologies listed in the job description. Familiarise ourselves with any specific frameworks or programming languages mentioned. If Cloudflare uses React or Node.js, for instance, be ready to discuss how we’ve used them in previous projects or coursework.

Showcase Your Projects

Bring along a portfolio that highlights our best work. This could be code samples, GitHub repositories, or any side projects we’ve built. Make sure we can talk through our thought process for each project, especially the challenges we faced and how we solved them—this shows our problem-solving skills in action.

Prepare for Behavioural Questions

While technical skills are key, full-time positions also require cultural fit. Be ready to discuss our previous experiences and how we handle teamwork, conflict, and deadlines. Brush up on the STAR method—Situation, Task, Action, Result—to clearly articulate our past experiences when discussing how we've contributed to a team.
