At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. Today the company runs one of the world’s largest networks that powers millions of websites and other Internet properties for customers ranging from individual bloggers to SMBs to Fortune 500 companies. Cloudflare protects and accelerates any Internet application online without adding hardware, installing software, or changing a line of code.
In this role, you will help support the foundations of a new infrastructure build‑out and expansion of our global network. As an intern, you will be paired with a dedicated mentor from the Deployment team who will guide you through the end‑to‑end lifecycle of infrastructure planning and execution. This is a practical and data‑driven hands‑on opportunity to bridge the gap between academic theory and real‑world application. You will take ownership of small‑scale deployment projects and validate key technical DCIM records for operational rigor using AI, create scripts and identify opportunities to automate our workflows.
If you are eager to learn, willing to get your hands dirty, and interested in leveraging AI to validate, automate and strengthen the data integrity for our deployments to help build a faster, safer Internet for millions of users, this is the place for you.
What would you do as a Cloudflare intern?
- Take ownership of small‑scale deployment projects from planning to turn‑up, under the close guidance of a senior engineering mentor.
- Visit local data centers to perform physical deployment activities, including racking and stacking hardware, running cables, and troubleshooting physical layer issues.
- Assist with server administration tasks remotely using IPMI/BMC tools, including server provisioning, monitoring, and firmware updates.
- Help coordinate with remote contractors, datacenter providers, and logistics partners during hardware installations across our 700+ global locations.
- Learn to use AI to perform global infrastructure data validation, gap analysis and identify automation and integrity validation workflows to eliminate manual tasks and improve our team's deployment speed.
- Use AI to perform inline validation checks prior to pushing network configurations for deployments.
- Present your completed project to the senior leadership team at the end of the internship.
Examples of Desirable Skills (Not required, but a plus!)
- Experience building a home network lab (e.g., GNS3, EVE-NG, Packet Tracer) or completing university projects involving routing and switching.
- Any exposure to server hardware components (CPU, RAM, NICs, Optics) or datacenter facility environments (AC/DC power, cooling).
- Basic academic understanding of routing protocols, particularly BGP.
- Comfort using tools like Jira, Google Spreadsheets, or MS Excel to track project status.
- Interest and/or experience in using AI to perform validations to infrastructure data, query live devices and simplify workflows through automation.
Bonus Points
- Entry‑level industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, Juniper JNCIA, CompTIA Network+ or Linux+).
- Multi‑lingual; comfortable communicating in a diverse, international environment.
