Health, Safety & Environmental Manager | Liverpool (office-based) | up to Β£59,622 + benefits
About The Role
We are seeking an experienced Health, Safety & Environmental (HS&E) Manager to lead the HS&E function for an in-house construction and responsive repairs contractor. This senior leadership position is responsible for managing a small team and reports to the Group Head of HS&E, with responsibility for overseeing all aspects of health, safety, and environmental compliance and performance.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and delivery of Group HS&E policy and strategy.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including CDM, ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001.
- Provide strategic and operational leadership to a team of HS&E professionals.
- Support senior leaders and operational teams through effective business partnering and specialist advice.
- Develop and manage robust safety management systems, audits, and reporting frameworks.
- Promote a strong, positive safety culture aligned with behavioural safety principles.
- Act as the primary contact with external regulatory bodies including the HSE and Environment Agency.
- Support incident investigations, root cause analysis and continual improvement initiatives.
About You
We are looking for a motivated and forward-thinking Health, Safety & Environment professional who is passionate about engaging with others to deliver best practice.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
- NEBOSH Construction Certificate
- Chartered Member of IOSH (or GradIOSH / CertIOSH working towards CMIOSH)
- Good knowledge of ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management systems
- Strong experience in managing Health, Safety & Environment in a construction or repairs setting
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
