Introduction: Cloud Student Homes is a national provider of Purpose-Built Student Accommodation in England. We focus on providing our students with more than ‘just’ their accommodation, providing the safety, security and social aspect of University life. The role of a Maintenance Operative is to manage the maintenance and repair requirements within the building, ensuring a first-class residential and customer experience. The role is part-time and permanent, requiring general maintenance to include routine equipment inspections and performing any basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required. Previous experience in care is essential, you should be highly skilled with various hand and power tools and be able to read blueprints and repair instructions. The successful applicant will have a background in building maintenance, good all-around DIY and manual skills, and be ready for work from day one. The role may require you to work in one site or across several student accommodation sites, so a driving licence and car ownership is preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine inspections of premises and equipment, maintain a clean site, and ensure security is maintained (locks, doors and windows all secure and maintained)
- Performing proactive preventative maintenance
- Maintaining up-to-date records
- Handling basic reactive repairs and maintenance i.e fixtures, fittings and equipment (generalist maintenance i.e. lighting, flood, broken glazing, ad hoc maintenance when required)
- Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary
- Diagnosing mechanical issues and correcting them
- Repairing machines, equipment, or structures, as necessary.
- Regular fire alarm testing and emergency lighting systems, PAT testing
- Maintain building in accordance with legislation and ANUK Accreditation Scheme requirements.
- Maintain building in accordance with necessary legislation, HMO compliance
Requirements:
- Proven maintenance experience and qualifications where necessary
- Proactive and able to work on own initiative
- Skilled in the use of hand and power tools
- Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and repair defective parts
- Ability to check blueprints and instruction manuals as necessary
- Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices
- Experience performing routine maintenance
- Strong organisation and follow-up skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Professional presentation and attitude
- Reliable with strong time management skills
- General knowledge of health and safety at work procedures will be advantageous
