Senior Microsoft 365 Consultant (Contract)
π° Β£500 to Β£550 per day, initial six month contract
π Location to be confirmed
Company & role
This contract sits with an established cloud and managed services provider running an ongoing programme of Microsoft work for one of its larger enterprise customers. It is a deliberately generalist brief. Several workstreams run at once, so they want someone who can pick up a piece of work, deliver it properly and move on to the next, rather than a specialist in a single product.
Live workstreams span Microsoft 365 configuration and tenant hardening, Defender and the wider security stack, application and tenant migrations, and the identity side of a business system change being run elsewhere. Power Platform comes into it as part of the migration work, moving apps across rather than building new ones from scratch. A SASE network rollout integrated with Azure sits alongside it all.
Worth being straight about the environment. This is a demanding enterprise customer working at pace, where the stakes on each change are high. It needs a seasoned consultant who has handled that kind of account before, can hold their own with a challenging stakeholder, and keeps delivery moving without being managed.
Why This Role Stands Out
- Genuine variety. Security, identity and migration work inside one engagement, which is rare on a contract this length
- Six months initially, on a programme with more work behind it rather than a short fixed piece of delivery
- Real ownership. You take a workstream from design through to implementation
- The provider runs its own managed services, so the work has to stand up operationally, not just pass a design review
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver across several parallel workstreams on an ongoing Microsoft programme for a large enterprise customer
- Configure Microsoft 365 across the core workloads and deliver tenant hardening
- Implement and tune Defender and the wider Microsoft 365 security stack
- Deliver the identity side of a wider business system change, covering Entra, access and authentication
- Run application and tenant migrations across the Microsoft estate, including moving Power Platform apps where they are in scope
- Hold the technical relationship with a demanding customer, managing expectations and pushing back where a request needs challenging
Ideal Experience
- A seasoned technical consultant, used to high stakes enterprise accounts and the scrutiny that comes with them
- Broad Microsoft 365 consulting background, strong across general configuration rather than deep in one workload
- Hands on with Defender and the Microsoft 365 security stack, including tenant hardening
- Entra and identity delivery, including supporting wider application or infrastructure programmes
- Experience of application and tenant migrations
- Partner, consultancy or managed service provider background, delivering into large or complex environments
- Confident with difficult stakeholder conversations and working without close supervision
- Available at short notice for an initial six month engagement
Desirable
- Power Platform exposure, particularly moving apps between tenants. A CRM background is a bonus but not expected
- Fundamental networking understanding, enough to sit alongside a SASE rollout integrated with Azure
